Additional Horses for Ashanti Farm
Gabriele
and Manfred of Ashanti Farm purchased an additional Stallion in Germany.
His name is "Exupery", a 5-year old Oldenburg who won the
German Championship in Warendorf, Germany in 1997 for 4-year old Stallions.
He arrived in Vienna on May 5, 1998, where Mr. Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg,
who is the First Rider of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, agreed
to train him. Arthurs daughter, Caroline, who is a very talented
young rider, will show him, once he is ready for shows. The plan is
to leave Exupery with Arthur for many years to come to give him the
best education in dressage available today and make him a possible future
champion. It is also planed that Arthur will visit Ashanti Farm in the
future, at least once a year, where he will give clinics and train
the riders and handlers of Ashanti Farm to achieve European standards
in breeding, training, and upbringing of young horses. One of Arthurs
colleagues from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna will visit Ashanti
Farm occasionally to teach our riders and possibly hold clinics.
We will announce Arthur's visits at Ashanti Farm well in advance
on our web site and through advertising. Those interested will
be able to make reservations for clinics and auditing.
Frozen semen of Exupery is now available. We received
semen from the Veterinarian University in Vienna, Austria and stored
it at our farm. Inquires are welcome!
Exupery, ridden by Patricia Kottas-Heldenberg, entered
their first show (small tour) in Kottingbrunn, Austria on March 27 &
28, 1999 and they won L4 with 67%, LM3 with 65%, L2 with 70% and LM2
with 72%. Patricia and Exupery were the stars of the tournament.
Gabriele and Manfred have purchased a Stallion with
the name "Carreras". He is seven years old, of Polish
descent and scored over 86% in the Championships for five year old Stallions
in Poland. We purchased this Stallion from Ulrich Kasselmann in Hagen,
Germany.
Carreras, stabled and trained in Vienna at Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg
stables, competed from May 21 to May 24 at the CDN-A Vienna-Freudenau
tournament ridden by Caroline Kottas-Heldenberg. He placed 2nd
at the M-Class and 5th at the Prix St Georges with
scores of 66.57% and 65.58% in a very deep footing. At the second
test for the Junior European Championships on June 11 to June 13, 1999,
Caroline and Carreras placed 4th, 2nd and 3rd
with scores of 67.40%, 69.00% and 70.00% and therefore qualified for
the Junior Championships in August in Austria.
Fameux, the 8 year old Oldenburg, also currently stabled and trained
in Vienna at Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg stables is doing very well too.
Caroline and Fameux won the M-class of the CDA-A tournament on May 21,
1999 with a score of 68.10%.
Congratulations to Caroline, Carreras, Fameux and Arthur, who does
an incredible job in training his daughters and the horses into top
performers. We are proud of you guys.
Riviera, had a filly. Her name is Windsong and she was born on February
7, 1999 and is very beautiful. We will post pictures on the website
very soon. You can find more info under paragraph "Newborn
Foals".
Ashanti Farm has also purchased Waleska M (a premium Hanoverian Mare)
and her Baby Amidala from a breeder in Celle, Germany. They arrived
in Virginia in early May and are doing very well.
Schindelhof
"Schindelhof",
Evelyn Haim/Swarovskis breeding farm in Austria was Rivieras,
Alfa Romeas and Prima Ballerinas home. Evelyn breeds the
finest Austrian Warmblood Horses for Dressage and Jumping. Schindelhof

all looking forward to the new baby.

Upcoming events
We will announce upcoming events in time.
Derringer
Derringer
arrived back home on June 15, 1999 and he looks extremely fit.
Thank you Steve Kanikkeberg for training
him so well.
We have asked Arthur Kottas to come and evaluate him.
Arthur and Patricia are coming on July 21, 1999 to ride and evaluate
Derringer and Delacroix. There is a good possibility that both
horses might go to Europe to be trained by Arthur and shown by Patricia.
Patricia, Arthurs daughter is currently training Exupery.
Since Exupery is still very young and just starting to be shown, we
would like Patricia to have a second horse for showing.
Derringer in the media
Look for Derringer in the stallion issues of "The
Chronicle of the Horse, Dressage Today and USET News". He
was featured in December 1998 issue of those publications. For
more articles check out Derringer in the
Media.
Newborn
Foals
On February 7, 1999, one of Ashanti Farms mares,
Riviera, a beautiful Hanoverian we purchased in Austria, gave birth
to a filly sired by Weinkoenig, a son of Weltmeyer. We've named this
filly Windsong. She is very beautiful. The birth occurred at 9:30 P.M.
much to the delight of the staff and owners and everything proceeded
like clockwork. The whole birthing process took approximately twenty
minutes and it wasn't five minutes after the foal was on her feet that
the mare had her nursing. The foal was handled briefly at the time of
birth for imprinting, which did not interfere with the natural process
that the mare and foal need to experience for normal, healthy bonding.
This foal entered the world with a healthy appetite, a good nature and
gentle disposition. She is happy, sensible and tolerant and enjoys the
company of people. Windsong is a very leggy gray with two white socks
and a star and snip on her nose. She is beautiful, elegant, athletic
and crispy. Around her eyes her color is turning black. We are certain
that she will mature to be a fantastic horse.
Be sure and browse our web site. We've added new photos of Derringer
and we've been contacting people who have bred to Derringer in the past
so that we might place some more photos of his offspring on the site.
Ashanti Farm is growing day by day and developing into a center dedicated
to the well being of the horse and enlightenment of horse people. We
hope that we will meet you some day at Ashanti Farm.
We have several job openings at the farm. See our Help
Wanted page for details.
Be sure and check back every month to find out "what's new"
