Delacroix Delacroix has received his well deserved retirement in June 2008. Gabriele is still taking him on trail rides occasionally. Other than that, he is enjoying his stall in the new Barn Building and his extra large paddock.  Delacroix is still in such good spirit despite his age of 23 years and he misses the lime light.
Prima Ballerina Prima Ballerina has been sold. Her new owner, Veronica is thrilled. Prima Ballerina will remain at AFI for training from time to time and will show with her new owner/rider.
Exupery Exupery had another serious colic early July and has recovered from surgery after 5 weeks in the hospital near Vienna. We are all very, very sad, but hope that Exupery will provide us and of course Caroline with a few more years of his company. Due to the seriousness of his last colic, we together with Caroline decided to retire Exupery from the competition sport. Caroline will keep riding Exupery at home on a regular basis, as she can still learn a lot from him.
Carreras Carreras has become Gabriele’s new Grand Prix horse. He is a great schoolmaster and a gentleman to his new lady rider.
Amidala Amidala, our now 9 year old Hanoverian Mare out of A Jungle Prince (Sire) and our States Premium Mare Waleksa M (Dam - out of World Cup 1) has started her 2008 competing season showing PSG in early May in VA. Amidala, in training with our Certified Trainer, Bruno Greber, since five + years now, and is showing ever growing Potential. Amidala and Bruno competed at the CDCTA at Morven Park on May 3rd, 2008. The pair placed 5th with a score of 68.750%. With Pride and Honor we are happy to announce that Amidala has placed 4th in Second Level in the 2007 USDF Dressage Horse of the Year Awards in 4th Level and 1st in the All Breed Awards with the American Hanoverian Society at 4th Level Open. We were notified in February by the American Hanoverian Society that Amidala has also won the HIGH SCORE Award for the competition year 2007 for the levels 1 to 4 open. Congratulations to Bruno, who does a terrific job in training Amidala to become a “Dressage Star” of the future.
Derringer Derringer is enjoying his Retirement very much. Being the reason of the existence of Ashanti Farm Inc, he has received a generous Stall (12x24) and his own large paddock and of course lots of attention, as always. He will still be used for breeding, since he has produced such wonderful offspring over the past decade. Thus Derringer is available for breeding in 2009 again. Look for Derringer on our homepage. News about Derringer is updated on this web site frequently. Fresh and Frozen Semen is available in the 2009-breeding season. The 2009 breeding contract for Derringer.

Schindelhof

"Schindelhof", Evelyn Haim/Swarovski's breeding farm in Austria (photo to right) was Riviera's, Alfa Romea's and Prima Ballerina's home. Evelyn breeds the finest Austrian Warmblood Horses for Dressage and Jumping. Schindelhof is also the home of the young Stallion "Weinkoenig". Weinkoenig is a son of "Weltmeier", the famous Dressage Stallion. Our filly, Windsong, is a daughter to Weinkoenig.

Due to the worldwide Economic situation, we have decided to hold our yearly clinic in July with our certified Trainer Bruno Greber this year. Look for details for this clinic in our May what’s New Page.

The 2009 Breeding contracts for Derringer & Carreras are now online!

We are very happy to announce that Southern States Cooperative Inc. has agreed to sponsor Ashanti Farm and in particular our Hanoverian Mare AMIDALA. We would like to thank Southern States Cooperative Inc. and the SSC Management for this Sponsorship and are looking forward to a professional and successful Business Relationship for 2008 and beyond.

Upcoming Events

“THE JULY 2008 CLINIC WITH ARTHUR KOTTAS ”

The July 2008 Clinic with Arthur Kottas, was once again a great success. Sold out for all three days all Rider Participants left with smiling faces and the Auditors enjoyed Arthur’s teachings and educational comments very much. The clinic was held in our new covered outdoor arena with its sophisticated P/A system. Even though we had quite high temperatures, the breezes kept Horses, Riders and Auditors very comfortable.

At the Lecture Demo on Saturday evening, Bruno rode exercises with Amidala. We asked our Auditors to judge each exercise and Arthur thereafter discussed the points given. Everybody was quite exited and it was a new feeling for most auditors to act as a “judge”. Thereafter Arthur demonstrated the correct longing of a horse and last but not least Lynn rode a musical freestyle with the Frisian Gelding, Moud. It was an entertaining 1.5 hours. After the Demonstration, everyone was invited to a Mexican Fiesta at our farm.

We would like to thank all our Customers, Clients, Friends and Sponsors – BMW of Charlottesville and Southern States - for their continued support and promise to arrange for another clinic with Arthur in 2009.
